Hurricane Wilma Strikes Mexico

Sunday, October 23, 2005

On Friday and Saturday Hurricane Wilma struck the Yucatan Peninsula causing major flooding and chaos. Cozumel had over 25 hours of continuous hurricane conditions. With winds over 100 miles per hour, Hurricane Wilma did its part on Cozumel. Two deaths have been reported in Quintana Roo, but none have been reported in Cancun or Cozumel.

While the Yucatan Peninsula got most of Hurricane Wilma's wrath, the hurricane is changing direction and heading towards Florida. Hurricane Wilma is now expected to make landfall on Monday morning instead of Sunday. This is because Hurricane Wilma was in the Yucatan Peninsula for much longer than expected.

The Landfall of Hurricane Wilma should not be as bad as anticipated before. It should be a Category 2 or maybe 3 storm by the time of Hurricane Wilma's Landfall. More information about Hurricane Wilma will be posted tomorrow.
