The hardest hit areas were Naples, Sanibel Island, and Marco Island. The eye of the Hurricane Wilma made Landfall 22 miles south of Naples. At the time Hurricane Wilma was a category 3 and had sustained winds of 125 MPH.
Naples, Sanibel Island, and Marco Island are all areas with heavy tourism. These areas have prime tourism in the coming months of the winter. Hurricane Wilma went through Naples and then through Florida. After that Hurricane Wilma crossed into the Atlantic ocean and is now past the Bahamas.
Hurricane Wilma could be the last of hurricane season. We have had so many Atlantic hurricanes this year that they had to use the Greek alphabet for tropical storm Alpha. So far we have had Hurricane Dennis, Hurricane Emily, Hurricane Irene, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Maria, Hurricane Nate, Hurricane Ophelia, Hurricane Philippe, Hurricane Rita, Hurricane Stan, Hurricane Vince, and Hurricane Wilma.
