Hurricane Rita Smashes Lake Charles
Sunday, September 25, 2005
As the water is receding in Lake Charles, it is apparent how much damage has been done to Lake Charles and the surrounding area. Hurricane Rita has done much damage to the Lake Charles area, including damaging many houses. It also destroyed a few buildings. Several boats were left ashore from the flooding in Lake Charles. The mayor of Lake Charles said "Everyone that wanted to got out."
More than 3 million residents that evacuated their homes are slowly but surely returning home. Hopefully they will find their houses in tact with minimal repair effort needed. Luckily there have been no reported deaths in Texas due to Hurricane Rita.
President Bush visited his homeland today to monitor the relief efforts of Texas. Now if we can only get him to visit Louisiana we will be great. Louisiana has been hit by both Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Katrina and is still very needy of relief.
At least it appears that the relief effort for Lake Charles and other areas hit by Hurricane Rita are underway.
