Hurricane Katrina Recovery Difficulties

Thursday, September 29, 2005

Rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina is posing to be a larger problem than initially hoped for. There are problems between the various levels of government. Getting everyone to cooperate has been much larger of an issue than initially bargained for. There are many disagreements about the directions that should be taken in the recovery for Hurricane Katrina.

The Louisiana Congressional Delegation has asked for 250 billion dollars in aide for recovery from Hurricane Katrina damages. This money will be used to re-build New Orleans and the rest of the damage done to Louisiana.

On Tuesday President Bush said he would look into the various ways to handle the recovery process from Hurricane Katrina. One of the big problems they are facing is how to keep a city that is below sea level safe from future hurricanes. Another problem is the corruption of the Louisiana no bid process. Which will damage the process for Hurricane Katrina's recovery.
